Le’ Veon Bell said during the week that he was not willing to play again under the franchise day. Instead, he wants to sit out the season or even end his career. However, according to media reports, this will not stop the Pittsburgh Steelers from missing the day again.
Bell put his statements into perspective shortly afterwards, but he still said to ESPN that he “would definitely consider taking the season off his feet”.
The topic will obviously become concrete, because Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports now that it is expected that the Steelers Bell will occupy again with the franchise day.
After earning $12.1 million through the day this season, Bell would earn an estimated $14.5 million in 2018. He would thus earn a total of just under 26 million dollars over two years – almost four million less than the Steelers had offered him in the past off-season under a long-term contract over this period.
Bell stayed away from the training camp and the minicamps. And although the Steelers assume that he will play in the end, Bell is not expected to return until shortly before the start of the season.
