Skicross: Tearing of the cruciate ligament: Olympia Aus also for medal candidates Zacher

The German Olympic team has to cope with a further setback. Ski-crosser Heidi Zacher, a sure contender for a medal at the games in Pyeongchang after the season so far, is missing because of a torn cruciate ligament in her left knee. The Lenggrieserin sustained the injury on Sunday during training in Idrefjäll, Sweden. She will be operated on Monday in Munich.

For the German Ski Association (DSV), it is already the fifth time that a medal hopeful has been lost after Alpine skiers Felix Neureuther and Stefan Luitz, ski jumper Severin Freund and freestyle skier Lisa Zimmermann. Everyone has suffered cruciate ligament tears.

In the current season, Zacher had already clinched one victory and four further podium places. From the ranks of the German freestylers she was the only contender for a medal after Zimmermann’s retirement.
