Handball: After video evidence chaos: EHF rejects Slovenian objection

The Slovenian objection against the evaluation of the preliminary round match at the European Handball Championship against Germany (25:25) has been rejected.

The EHF informed the DHB of this on Tuesday afternoon after a meeting of the Disciplinary Commission. This means that the German team will have 3:1 points on their account before the last preliminary round match against Macedonia on Wednesday (from 18.15 at LIVETICKER).

The protest was about the question of whether the seven-metre lead to the last-second equaliser for the German team by Tobias Reichmann was right. Three Slovenian players had previously prevented Paul Drux from throwing Germany in. The point of contention was whether the ball left Drux’s hand before or after the final siren. The Lithuanian referees had consulted the video evidence before their decision on Monday evening.

“It was clear to us that this was the only way for the decision to end,”said DHB sports director Bob Hanning.
