Nikola Mirotic is currently in the form of his life at the Chicago Bulls, but at the same time he is still a part of trade rumours. After beating Miami Heat, the Spanish international has now admitted that this has spurred him on.
Mirotic only signed a new contract in Chicago last summer, so it can only be traded officially since Monday. It is very likely that this will happen, and he is said to have demanded a trade after the dispute with Teammate Bobby Portis. Yet he still enjoys the moment, as Mirotic said.
“That’s kind of motivation for me,”the forward explained.”I know that sounds strange. People talk about me leaving all the time. But for me it simply means that I concentrate on the moment and try to do my best. That’s not why I didn’t attend the 15th. January. I just want to do my job.”
Since his comeback, Mirotic has been playing an average of 17.3 points and 6.9 rebounds, each with a Career Highs. He scored all 18 points in the final quarter to win against Miami and lead the Bulls to victory,”I’m enjoying this moment,”said Mirotic afterwards,”The team wins, I play well. That’s all I can ask.”
He is well aware of the possibility of being traded soon:”I know that my name will appear. But I’m doing my job, I’m sure the front office is doing its job, and then we’ll see what’s best for the team,”says Mirotic.”I hope they’ll keep me at least a few more games. Especially for the game against Golden State[on Wednesday] because I really want to be there. Let’s watch from day to day.”
