Handball: European Championship 2018: Norway starts into the main round with victory

Vice World Champion Norway has successfully started into the main round of the European Handball Championship. The Scandinavians defeated Serbia in Zagreb 32-27 (17-17) to reinforce their semi-final ambitions.

Norway now have 4:2 points in the Main Round Group 2.

Best Norwegian goal scorers were Kristian Björnsen from HSG Wetzlar and Sander Sagosen with eight goals each. Zarko Sesum from the German Bundesliga team Frisch Auf Göppingen and Bojan Beljanski scored five goals for the Serbs, who now have no chance of reaching the semi-finals with 0:6 points. The best two teams in each of the two main groups will reach the medal games.

In the evening, hosts Croatia (2-2 points) and Belarus (0-4) will meet. World champion France and record European champion Sweden (both 4:0) are free of play.
