The Fischtown Pinguins have expanded their club record in the DEL with the fifth victory in a row. The team from Bremerhaven won on 43rd place. After an extra time of 3:2 (1:1,0:0,1:1,1:0) in the table neighbour ERC Ingolstadt and is the new eighth place with 63 points.
Master Red Bull Munich won 5:4 (1:1,2:3,1:0,1:0,1:0) after four times in arrears against the Duesseldorf EC and claimed the lead at the front. Munich stands at 91 points, followed by Nuremberg Ice Tigers with 86 points after a 2:1 (0:0,1:0,0:1,1:0) extension via Grizzlys Wolfsburg.
The third-placed Eisbären Berlin (82) were defeated for the third time in a row. After the 0:5 in Ingolstadt and the 2:6 at Adler Mannheim, former national coach Uwe Krupp’s team lost 5:6 (0:1,2:3,3:2) to the Straubing Tigers. Maurice Edwards scored the late winner’s goal (59th).
Munich equalled DEG four times, while Brooks Macek (62nd) secured the extra points in extra time. In Ingolstadt, penguin striker Jan Urbas (62) made the decision by a large margin. Bremerhaven won for the first time since joining the DEL in 2016/17 five times in succession.
