Ski Alpin: local heroine Goggia wins in Cortina, Schmidhofer Fifth place

Not top favourite Lindsey Vonn, but local heroine Sofia Goggia wins the World Cup downhill in Cortina d’ Ampezzo. The best Austrian is Nicole Schmidhofer (+0.99 sec.) in fifth place, Stephanie Venier (+1.25 sec.) in eighth place.

The 25-year-old Goggia, who is celebrating her 25th birthday, is a very special person. World Cup victory celebrates, benefits from a serious mistake of the US-American in the upper part. Worldcup leader Shiffrin made 15. Podium place (10 of them victories) this winter will be a big step in the direction of defending the title.
