Ski Jumping: Ski Flying World Championships: Friday Sixth in Qualification

Led by Richard Freitag, all four DSV eagles have reached the first round of the World Ski Flying Championships in Oberstdorf. Returnees Friday was the best German in qualifying with 219.5 m and sixth place. In addition, Andreas Wellinger (198.5 m), Markus Eisenbichler (197.5) and Stephan Leyhe (195.5), who followed in 16th, 19th and 20th place, take up the fight for the medals at 4 p. m. (LIVETICKER).

The winner of the qualification was the Norwegian Daniel Andre Tande, who with 238.5 m improved the hill record of Wellinger by half a metre. The qualification was originally planned for Thursday, but due to hurricane “Friederike” took place just before the first two rounds. The decision will be made on Saturday in two more rounds, followed by the team competition on Sunday.

Local hero Karl Geiger remained only the spectator’s role after a moderate performance in the training, as only four starters are allowed per nation.
