BBL: Bayreuth qualifies for Top Four for the first time

For the first time in the club’s history, Bundesliga club medi Bayreuth has won the ticket for the Top Four. At the start of the cup qualifying, coach Raoul Korner’s team won the Frankfurt Skyline with a commanding 96:74 (60:33).

In Frankfurt, the guests got off to a good start and were particularly convincing from a distance. In the first half of the year, Bayreuth’s three-way quota was 82 percent.

After the break, the Frankfurt team came out on top and won the third quarter. However, the race to catch up was not rewarded in the end. The best thrower of the match was Bayreuth’s Gabe York with 20 points.

Bayreuth won the championship twice (1988 and 1989), but had not been able to qualify for the cup weekend since 1992. The Top Four will be released on 17/18 June. February in Neu-Ulm.

On Sunday the qualifying round will continue with the duel between Alba Berlin and the MHP Giant Ludwigsburg.

In the evening, the heavyweights Bayern Munich and Brose Bamberg meet. Host ratiopharm Ulm is set for the final round.
