Handball: European Championship: France marches towards semi-finals

World champion France marches with great strides towards the semi-finals at the European Handball Championship in Croatia. The tournament’s favourite defeated record European champion Sweden in a defensive battle with 23:17 (10:8) and took the lead of the main round group 1 with 6:0 points. France is the only loss-point free team at EM.

Cedric Sorhaindo was the best goalscorer in the French coach Didier Dinart and Guillaume Gille’s team, scoring five times. Superstar Nikola Karabatic met twice.

Outstanding was goalkeeper Vincent Gerard, who scored 19 of the 36 throws against his body, scoring 53 percent. For the Swedes, who continue to have 4:2 points and a chance to win the medals, Simon Jeppson was four times successful.

In the evening (20.30 hrs. / here you can find out everything about the broadcast) hosts Croatia will meet Vice World Champion Norway in the second Saturday game. Both teams have 4:2 points.
