The Milwaukee Bucks broke up with their head coach Jason Kidd on Monday evening. The team is now being coached by Kidd’s former assistant Joe Prunty, who was already on the sidelines in his most recent win over the Phoenix Suns.
Kidd was in his fourth season as head coach in Milwaukee. He had taken over the team in 2014, having completed the pre-season with a 15-67 record. Kidd immediately managed to get the team on course and lead them into the playoffs thanks to a new defensive concept.
However, the development of the young team stagnated in the following years, which is why it has been said for a long time that Kidd’s job is endangered. So that’s how it happened:”We thank you for everything Jason has done for the organization. However, we believe that a new beginning and a change of leadership are necessary to lift the team to the next level so that we can play for a championship,”General Manager John Horst is quoted in a statement.
Kidd, however, criticized the way the dismissal had gone because he received no explanation except that it was “going in a different direction”, but he said that he had enjoyed the time in Milwaukee very much and that he did not regret anything.
