Ski alpin: Rebensburg wins penultimate giant slalom before the Olympics

Ski racer Viktoria Rebensburg has impressively confirmed her role as a contender for the gold medal in giant slalom two and a half weeks before the start of the Olympic Games. At the penultimate World Cup race in her favourite discipline before leaving for Pyeongchang, the 2010 Olympic champion and 2014 Olympic bronze medallist celebrated her third victory of the season at the Kronplatz in South Tyrol.

After a two-week break due to illness, Rebensburg won by 0.03 seconds ahead of Ragnhild Mowinckel (Norway) and Federica Brignone (Italy/+0.66 seconds).

She also regained the lead in the Giant Slalom World Cup from Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) who fell in the first run.
