DEL: DEG defender Nowak operated on the thigh

In the DEL, the eight-time champion of Düsseldorf EC has to give up his defender Marco Nowak indefinitely. The 27-year-old had suffered severe haemorrhage in his right thigh following a 4-3 win over Straubing in a collision on Tuesday evening.

Because of the acute risk of excessive blood loss, Nowak was operated on Wednesday morning. This was announced by DEG. The procedure had been successful.
