Handball-EM: World Champion France and Sweden in the semi-finals

World champion France and record European Champion Sweden reached the semi-finals at the European Handball Championships in Croatia. The French were already ahead of 30:27 (19:13) in the final main-round match against hosts Croatia on Wednesday evening as Norway defeated Sweden in Zagreb 28:25 (12:11).

France won Group I ahead of the Swedes, who moved up to second place after the defeat of the Croats.

Olympic champion Denmark was the first team to win the semi-final in Group II. Spain followed thanks to their 31-27 (14-13) win over defending champions Germany.
