Handball European Championship: Risk too great: Drux operation postponed

Paul Drux injured his knee in the second main round game against Denmark and is out of action for the rest of the European Championship. The player of the Foxes Berlin was supposed to be operated on Thursday, but the intervention has now been postponed.

A study in Straubing, where Drux has to go under the knife, has shown that at present, due to the high risk of infection, no surgery makes sense. The procedure has now been postponed by one week.

“For us, there was no question at all that the operation would be postponed, first and foremost Paul’s health was the most important one,”said Bob Hanning, Managing Director of Foxes, who is also DHB Vice President and was involved in the decision-making process from Varazdin.

Drux had torn an inner meniscus in his right knee against the Danes. It is expected to fail for at least three months.
