Handball European Championship: Brand supports Prokop:”Give freedom to do one’s own thing.”

After the disappointing final round of the European Handball Championships in Croatia, former national coach Heiner Brand supports Christian Prokop, who has been criticised for having given him the confidence he deserves,”Brand told SID.

The DHB’s selection as defending champion had missed the minimum goal of the semi-finals after only two victories in six games. The tournament debut of Prokop, who succeeded Dagur Sigurdsson as coach of the national team, was unsuccessful:”As he himself said, he has certainly learned a few things,”said Brand.

The world champion coach of 2007 does not want to give any advice to the federation one year before the home world championship, because “I am too far away for it”. Brand, however, after two disappointing tournaments, said,”It has to go forward.”
