Winter Sports: Skeleton: Fernstädt wins Junior World Championship

Skeleton pilot Anna Fernstädt (Berchtesgaden) is driving to Pyeongchang as Junior World Champion at the Olympics. Approximately two weeks before the start of the Winter Games in South Korea, the 21-year-old secured a place in St. Peter’s World Cup on Thursday. Moritz won the title for the first time.

More than eight tenths of a second separated them after two runs from the Russian Julia Kanakina (22), Susanne Kreher (19/Oberbärenburg) finished third.

Among the men Felix Keisinger (20/Königssee) won bronze behind the Russian duo Nikita Tregubow (22) and Wladislaw Martschenkow (21). Fernstädt is the third German pilot to drive to the Games. World champion Jacqueline Lölling (Winterberg) and Tina Hermann (Königssee) are candidates for the gold medal.
