LeBron James and Stephen Curry chose their teams for Friday night’s All-Star game, the first time the East will not face the West. James then spoke about his decision and criticisms of the current format.
James did not want to reveal who he had chosen in the first place, but Kevin Durant revealed during the evening that he was the first pick. LeBron also chose Kyrie Irving as one of his team, even though it has been speculated since the summer that bad blood exists between James and his former teammate. But choosing Kyrie was “an easy decision,”as James explained.
“I just picked the best available players. And it’s special for me to play with Kyrie again,”said James,”Together with Kevin Love we’ll have a weekend where we can think back a lot to our time together. Kyrie is also one of the best point guards in the league, so the decision was easy.”
Both James and Curry both expressed the hope that the new format will make the All-Star Game, which has not been particularly entertaining in recent years, more interesting again:”Many people I know tell me that they really want to see the game this year,”James says.”This shows me that it’s heading in the right direction.”
But he also had one point of criticism:”The election should have been shown on television. We should have planned this better in advance. The fans should have been part of it,”said James.
The All-Star Game will be released on 18. February in Los Angeles.
