NFL: Media: Cardinals engage Mike McCoy as Coordinator

The Arizona Cardinals have apparently found their offensive coordinator: According to consistent reports, new head coach Steve Wilks commits Mike McCoy to the offense.

This is reported by several media, including NFL network insider Ian Rapoport. McCoy had already been considered the favorite for a few days, and Arizona had recently shown an interest in former Singaporean coordinator Darrell Bevell.

McCoy was head coach of the Chargers from 2013 to 2016 before taking over as offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos offensive. There he was released last November. While Carson Palmer has announced his resignation, Larry Fitzgerald’s future remains uncertain. There will also be several changes in the offensive line and the receiving corps.

Another offensive personal is probably also clarified in the course of the McCoy commitment: The Cardinals hold thus quarterback coach Byron Leftwich, who already enjoyed a very high standing under ex-coach Bruce Arians and is considered in league circles as a rapidly rising coach.
