Drew Brees will become a Free Agent after this season. According to Sean Payton, however, he will not remain so for long. The head coach of the New Orleans Saints is convinced that the quarterback will remain. He said so on Thursday.
“He stays. We will make sure of that,”Payton told NFL Network on the sidelines of the Pro Bowl activities in Orlando. In order to ensure Brees’ stay beyond the season, the Saints with the 39-year-old would have to make up their minds until the age of 12. March. Until then, they have the opportunity to negotiate exclusively with him.
Managing Director Mickey Loomis was a little more cautious about the statements, but he also expects Brees to stay with us, saying,”We want him to be our quarterback”, Loomis told the Times-Picayune,”We don’t expect any major complications.”
Brees completed another strong season at the Saints, although his litter attempts have been reduced considerably compared to the previous years. After the dramatic divisional round-the-clock defeat in Minnesota, he also indicated further cooperation with the franchise:”I’ll stay as long as they want me.”
