DEL: Düsseldorf EC dismisses coach Pellegrims

One day after the 5-0 defeat at Fischtown Pinguins in Bremerhaven, the EC of Düsseldorf dismissed their head coach Mike Pellegrims. This is the DEL club’s reaction to the sporting downswing of recent weeks.

Until the end of the season Tobias Abstreiter, who has been co-trainer for many years, will be responsible for the team. Thomas Dolak and long-time star striker Daniel Kreutzer will be joined by the former international.

“After the clear and disappointing defeat in Bremerhaven, we felt compelled to react and give a fresh impetus to achieve our goals in this season,”said DEG Managing Director Stefan Adam.

After seven defeats in the past nine games, the eight-time champions are outside the play-off ranks. As was announced about two weeks ago, the Belgian Pellegrims (49) will take over the post of co-trainer under the new head coach Pavel Gross at Ligarivalen Adler Mannheim next season.
