Biathlon: German biathletes on the final day of the European Championships without medal

The German biathletes missed another medal at the end of the European Championships in Ridnaun/Italy.

In the mixed relay, Nadine Horchler (Willingen), Karolin Horchler (Clausthal-Zellerfeld), Philipp Horn (Frankenhain) and David Zobel (Partenkirchen) finished in seventh place after twelve reloaders over 2×6 km and 2×7.5 km.

The gap to winner Ukraine (6 reloaders) was 1:29.4 minutes. The Russian relay team won the silver medal on Sunday (9/+11.7 seconds), the bronze medal went to Norway (4/+33.2). Horn’s third place in the singles over 20 km will thus remain the only podium finish for the German Ski Association (DSV) in Ridnaun.

Already before, Janina Hettich (Schönwald) and Florian Graf (Freyung) had run far past the medals in the single-mixed relay after 13 reloaders. With a gap of 1:07.5 minutes to the victorious Norwegians Thekla Brun-Lie and Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen (6), this was only enough to finish in ninth place.

The French riders Julia Simon and Emilien Jacquelin (11/+8.6 seconds) took silver ahead of US-Americans Susan Dunklee and individual world champion Lowell Bailey (10/+9.1).
