NHL: Draisaitl plays with Edmonton in Germany

Young star Leon Draisaitl and his Edmonton Oilers from the NHL will play a preparatory match in Germany this autumn. This was announced during the Allstar game in Tampa/Florida. It is still open against which team from the DEL the native of Cologne will play with the Canadians. The duel is scheduled for the end of September.

Edmonton will start the NHL season in Stockholm/Sweden against New Jersey Devils. The opponent completes a test match in Switzerland, home of Nico Hischier. The striker had been chosen as the first pick by the Devils at the last NHL-Draft.

There have already been several duels in Germany between local clubs and NHL teams. In 1990, the Düsseldorf EC played twice against the St. Guggenheim. Louis Blues, later Eisbären Berlin met Tampa Bay Lightning (2008), Adler Mannheim met San Jose Sharks (2010), Buffalo Sabres (2011) and Hamburg Freezers met Los Angeles Kings (2011).
