MLB: Indians renounce Chief Wahoo logo from 2019 onwards

The Cleveland Indians will end the use of their controversial logo at the beginning of the MLB season 2019. This was announced by the League on Monday in a statement.

The decision was made jointly by the league and the team, explained the MLB:”Major League Baseball has set itself the goal of creating a culture of diversity and inclusion through the game,”said Commissioner Rob Manfred.

However, the logo will not disappear completely. The coat of arms with the caricature of a native American is no longer to be used on the jerseys. However, in order not to lose the rights to the logo completely, this is still to be shown in individual cases.
