NFL: Super Bowl LII: And what if someone’s on fire?

Super Bowl LII is just around the corner and now it’s time to take a look at the little side effects that make the event one of the biggest sporting events ever. The encounter between the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles is a very special Super Bowl. Betting forums offer the craziest bets and in Minnesota you can expect the Eagles fans with gnashing teeth. Super Bowl LII will be available on 4. February from 11.45 pm live on DAZN – optionally with German and original US commentary!

The facial expression of Bill Belichick at the trophy presentation after winning the AFC Championship Game was a good indication of the euphoria that super bowl participation in the Patriots can cause. Expectations after the triumphs and the number of Super Bowl trips in the past year are simply so great that you might think participation would be obligatory.

For 17 years, Belichick has been head coach of the franchise in the saddle. For the eighth time the journey ends with a trip to the Super Bowl. Figures that the Eagles can only dream of: during this period Philly was allowed to take part in the Vince Lombardi Trophy match once. It went, of course, against the patriots. Under the then head coach Andy Reid, they had to admit defeat in Jacksonville in 2004 with 21:24. It was the third Super Bowl triumph for Belichick and Tom Brady in just four years.

Expanding the period of time, however, it is possible to identify trends that speak for the Eagles. The 13 duels with the Boston franchise so far have been won seven times. This is one of the few advantages Philly has to offer.

The patriots have also secured an alleged advantage in matters of superstition. As the right to the Super Bowl changes from year to year between conferences and last year the Falcons had a right to a home, New England were allowed to choose the jersey colour as a home team. The Pats chose the white away kits. Why? Twelve of the last 13 teams, who wore white in the Super Bowl, finally left the field as winners.

In addition to the choice of jersey, the Pats are also allowed to express their wishes at the Coin Toss. This is carried out by the referee, who is called Gene Steratore at the Super Bowl LII. Steratore? The name should be familiar to those who have already followed the regular season closely. Here he led the game between the Oakland Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys and attracted attention with a curious scene.

Because the ball was so close to a new first down after a third down that the referees themselves could not determine with the help of the 10-yard chain whether the spot was sufficient for new four attempts, Steratore used a note card to help. A scene that caused quite a stir in the media, but will not occur in Minnesota any more. The NFL has now banned the use of note cards in such cases.

The venue of the Super Bowl LII is also exceptional. Actually, one likes to like to be warm when the game of the year takes place. For the fifth time, however, the NFL breaks its tradition of transporting the event to the southern states. The NFL does not play Super Bowl in stadiums where it has less than ten degrees Celsius at Super Bowl time. Closed stadiums are excluded.

Having played two times in Michigan, one time in New Jersey and once in Minneapolis, we return to the north, to Minnesota – and to the new, beautiful and 70,000 spectators in the new U. S., where we’ll be able to watch the show. Bench Stadium.

Of the 70,000 lucky viewers, who are poorer by an average of $3,000, it can be expected that a larger part of the audience will sing to “Fly Eagles Fly” than he supports the evergreen New England. According to a survey by an American betting company, only five of the 50 states in the US are sympathetic to patriots at the Super Bowl. Only one of the five states is not in the New England area: North Dakota, the place where Carson Wentz played in college. The survey was conducted via Twitter and does not fully confirm the trends.

Even in the state of Minneapolis, the Eagles are still in the lead with 2,300 to 950 tweets despite their victory over the Vikings in the NFC Championship Game. However, this bar owner is probably a minority.

Meanwhile, restaurant operators in Minnesota are also among those who have not yet overcome the defeat. Eagles-Safety Chris Maragos, with his reservation requests for himself and his team mates in several restaurants, was not well received and therefore turned to the social media.

But even outside the social media, messages can still be transmitted today. The mood in Philadelphia was not so good after Carson Wentz’s regular season outing. Ersatzmann Foles wasn’t expected to do too much, but just before Christmas, a poster wall operator on an 18×6 meter billboard next to the highway at Lincoln Financial Field sent an encouraging message to the backup:”Philly believes in you, St. Stephen. Nick”.

This was so well received by the fans that Foles’ face reappeared on the billboard after his victory in the Divisional Round against the Falcons. Of course this also had to happen in the Conference Championship Game and after the fans left the stadium and after the 38:7 dismantling against the Vikings headed home, there was of course another message:”St. Nick…. always delivers!”

But not only St. Tell Nick to drop off for the Eagles on Sunday. Of course, the same is hoped for by Superstar-Defensive-Tackle Fletcher Cox. For him, the Super Bowl is also the first in his career, and as this event is one of the world’s biggest sporting events, as well as the highlight of each season being for every football player and fan, Cox was asked by a journalist for his personal favorite moment in the Super Bowl history.

While Super Bowls make up nine of the ten most watched TV programs in the history of American TV, Cox is surprisingly less resistant to sports TV:”I don’t watch sports. You know that, don’t you? I really don’t watch football games, I tell you that every time,”says the 27-year-old, who was promptly and strongly questioned about social media.

Not all players in the Eagles squad are without any Super Bowl experience. Running Back LaGerrette Blount and defensive Lineman Chris Long are two players in the Eagles roster who won last year’s Patriots Championship.

An even more prominent duo, which will meet as former team mates in the Super Bowl, is one that caused a sensation in college times. In 2009 Patriots tight-end Rob Gronkowski and Eagles quarterback Nick Foles were colleagues in Arizona. Together, however, they were not on the field. While Foles caused a sensation in PAC-12, Gronk rehabilitated himself from a back injury throughout the season and then signed up for draft.

A joint college anecdote also connects the two kickers. The likelihood of this is not too high, but both Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski and Eagles kicker Jake Elliott were active at the University of Memphis prior to the NFL career.

In this article, we wanted to refrain from questionable eating habits such as the 8,000,000 tons of guacamole, which are consumed together on the Super Bowl Sunday for the 14,500 tons of chips, as well as from facts according to “72 of the 700,000 football produced will be available for the Super Bowl”. But in this case we can’t get past a small halftime show review.

For Justin Timberlake it will be the second time that he will perform as a main act during the halftime break of the Super Bowl. The first time it was not only the setting for another Patriot victory, but also the birth of “Nipplegate”. Of course, this is a found food for speculation as to whether Janet Jackson will get another unexpected appearance during the show. However, this is less likely.

Since the incident, the show has been broadcast in the world’s TV sets with a slight delay. In the event of possible incidents, one can intervene in good time before a global audience can witness a “disaster”.

This also means more time for companies to get hold of one of the coveted commercials before the halftime show. Incidentally, the price for a 30-second commercial has risen to around five million dollars this year. Those who want to have this money quickly refinanced have the following spectacular investment opportunities at their disposal….
