Basketball: EuroCup: Alba Berlin retires

Bundesliga club Alba Berlin has won the fourth defeat in the top 16 round of the EuroCup and can no longer qualify for the quarter-finals. On the fifth matchday, the former German series champion lost to Spanish club Gran Canaria Las Palmas with 72:75 (35:27) in front of 6322 spectators.

Alba are third with a win and four defeats behind Darüssafaka/Turkey (4-0) and Gran Canaria (3-2). Two teams reach the quarter-finals.

The best thrower of the Berlin team was Stefan Peno with 12 points. Next Tuesday Alba travels to the meaningless final game at Galatasaray Istanbul.
