Ski Alpin: Stenmark: Hirscher can break my record

Swedish ski legend Ingemar Stenmark expects to hand over his world cup victory record of 86 victories to Marcel Hirscher at some point in the future,”I think so,”said the 61-year-old to the Kleine Zeitung (Tuesday issue) when asked if Hirscher would break his best mark. The Salzburg-based company currently has 55 successes.

Hirscher, not Henrik Kristoffersen, is the top favourite on Olympic gold slalom for the serial winner of the 1970s and 80s. Hirscher has impressively demonstrated his class and strength of nerves in the goal-scoring game, for example, at the 2013 Home World Cup “He is incredibly nervous. At the World Championships in Schladming, Austria had not yet had the great success – and Marcel started as the leader in the second round. The pressure was enormous. But he has mastered this confidently,”says Stenmark. His favourite in the Olympic giant slalom:”Also Hirscher.”
