Olympia 2018: Before Olympic start: Putin apologizes to athletes

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has apologised to his country’s winter sports athletes for the fact that his government was unable to protect athletes from the consequences of the doping scandal. Only demonstrably clean Russian athletes are allowed to participate in the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang (9. till 25. February) under Olympic flag and anthem.

“Forgive us for not being able to protect you from it,”said the Russian head of state. The scandal had “very special conditions” for Russia’s sportsmen at the 23. Winter Games. The IOC had taken action after systematic doping had been proven to the giant empire for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi.

I wish you luck,”Putin said,” hundreds of thousands, millions of fans will enjoy watching you at the Games,”169 Russian athletes are currently allowed to participate in the Games in Pyeongchang, but as” Olympic Athletes from Russia “(OAR).
