Olympics 2018: Causa Russia: US doping raiders accuse IOC of failure

Travis Tygart, head of the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), has sharply criticized the International Olympic Committee following the annulment of the verdicts against 28 Russian athletes by the International Sports Court CAS. The supreme American doping hunter accused the IOC of acting inadequately and wrongly in the action against the Russian state doping scandal.

“The IOC’s failure to quickly and resolutely cope with Russia’s unprecedented attack on fair play has undermined public confidence in the values of the Olympic movement,”Tygart is quoted in a USADA statement:”To beat dozens of cases in a trial on the eve of the Olympic Games has not served justice. The integrity of the games has been sabotaged.”

Tygart, once a leader in dealing with the doping case Lance Armstrong called for a quick rethink:”The whole thing really stinks, the nightmare for clean athletes continues. That’s got to change.”
