Olympia 2018: CAS rejects application to join the Virgin Islands

The Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang/South Korea are one of the lesser attractions. In its first decision on Friday, the ad hoc tribunal of the International Sports Court CAS rejected an application by the National Olympic Committee of the Virgin Islands for a skeleton starting place.

Tannenbaum had fulfilled the qualification criteria of the Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Federation IBSF, but the Virgin Islands remained without a quota place.

The three-member CAS committee headed by the German professor Martin Schimke did not see the International Olympic Committee’s obligation to guarantee the Virgin Islands a place on the grid.
