Olympic Games 2018: IOC declares 13 Russian athletes eligible to compete

Three days after the lifting of the lifelong doping restrictions on 28 Russian winter sportsmen and women by CAS 13, the International Olympic Committee has declared them generally eligible for the Olympic Winter Games. This was announced by the IOC on Saturday.

Two other of these 28 persons were eligible to participate as trainers.

However, the IOC decision is not yet certain whether the athletes in question will really start the race,”We will look at each athlete individually before we make a decision,”said IOC spokesman Mark Adams on Saturday.

A committee of the IOC chaired by the former French Minister of Sport, Valerie Fourneyron, is now examining in detail the 15 cases of Russian athletes and coaches who were initially generally admitted.
