Edwin Jackson of the Indianapolis Colts died in a car accident. This was announced by the club from the NFL on Sunday. In addition to the 26-year-old linebacker, another man was killed in the accident.
According to the Indianapolis Star newspaper, a 37-year-old motorist captured the two men on the side strip of a highway while standing next to a broken down vehicle.
According to ESPN, the second man who had apparently taken Jackson on a ride-sharing program had left to help Jackson, who had become nauseous. Then they were hit from behind by the driver’s pickup truck, which had fallen on the side strip.
According to the police, the driver tried to flee but was caught and arrested. Authorities are checking to see if the man was drunk in the accident.
“It broke our heart to hear the news of Edwin Jackson’s death,”the Colts wrote in a statement:”All those who crossed his path respected him very much. He will be sorely missed in our locker room and throughout the club.”
Jackson has been under contract with Indianapolis since 2016 and was on eight occasions. In 2015, he entered the league unpunished and had spent his first season with the Arizona Cardinals. He missed the current season injured.
