Cycling: Despite the doping affair: Froome enters the season in Spain

Four-time Tour de France winner Christopher Froome (United Kingdom) has announced plans to launch his season despite the smoldering doping scandal. According to his team Sky on Monday, the 32-year-old will be starting next week at the Ruta del Sol in Andalusia.

“I understand, of course, that this situation creates a lot of uncertainty. But I am confident that we will get to the bottom of everything,”said Froome in the Sky announcement.

In mid-December it became known that Froome had been positively tested in a doping test during his Vuelta triumph in September 2017. A British urine sample showed a too high concentration of the asthma drug salbutamol.
