Ice hockey: Jyväskylä wins Champions League

JYP Jyväskylä from the Finnish Ice Hockey League (Liiga) has secured his first title in the Champions Hockey League.

In the final, coach Marko Virtanen’s team won 2-0 (0-0,1-0,1-0,1-0) in Sweden’s favourite Växjö Lakers. This was the first time that a team from outside Sweden triumphed in the fourth edition of the competition.

In the past two seasons, Frölunda Indians won the game and Lulea Hockey had previously been successful.
