NBA: Media: New Clippers deal for Williams “in range”.

After Blake Griffin’s trade, many experts had expected Lou Williams to be a hot trade candidate. According to ESPN information, a contract extension of the Guard is now planned instead.

The report states that a new contract is “within reach”before the trade deadline on Thursday. This means that teams that wanted to acquire Williams via trade have already given up more or less recently.

Williams is currently playing the best season of his career (23.3 points, 5.3 assists) and was considered one of the most attractive players on the trade market, earning only $7 million this season. Now the competition for Tyreke Evans (Grizzlies) is likely to intensify even more if Williams is indeed off the market.

Meanwhile, details of a potential new contract for the former Sixth Man of the Year are not yet known. However, the 31-year-old had already emphasized several times in the past that he would like to stay with the Clippers.
