Olympia 2018: Savchenko/Massot to start in team competition

The medal candidates Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot are already on ice six days before the pair-skating decision at the winter games in Pyeongchang. The runners-up world champions are to start in the team competition on Friday (10.00 o’ clock OZ/2.00 o’ clock CET) in the short program.

“It is planned that Savchenko/Massot will run,”said Udo Dönsdorf, Sports Director of the German Skating Union (DEU), on Wednesday. As an alternative, Annika Hocke and Ruben Blommaert (Berlin) would be available.

The team competition celebrated its Olympic premiere in Sochi four years ago. At that time, the German team without Savchenko and its then partner Robin Szolkowy finished eighth in the Olympic victory of host Russia. The German duo in Sochi won bronze in the pair race competition.
