NFL: Hundreds of Thousands Celebrate Super Bowl Heroes at Philadelphia Parade

Hundreds of thousands of football fans celebrated their Super Bowl heroes in Philadelphia on Thursday at the official winners’ parade. Shortly before 11:00 a. m. local time, Philadelphia Eagles players set off on the five-mile (8km) city centre route in open double-decker buses at the stadium.

Altogether, the organisers expected around two million people on the track.

Budweiser Budweiser brewery distributed beer free of charge at two dozen stands. The company kept a promise that it had given Tackle Lane Johnson a pre-season attack in the event of a title win.

Quarterback Nick Foles, who had been awarded the NFL Final’s most valuable player, held the trophy in his hands and was celebrated by the fans. The Eagles had defeated defending champions New England Patriots in Minneapolis (41:33) on Monday night and won the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the first time.

To celebrate the day, Philadelphia had closed schools, museums, courts, government buildings, and the zoo.
