For ski jumper Katharina Althaus, the decision can come from the normal jump at the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.
The medal hopeful from Oberstdorf underlined her good form with three jumps in the first training block on Thursday, which she has already proven in the World Cup season with eight podium finishes in eight jumps.
The 21-year-old Althaus finished in fifth place in the first run in the following two rounds, finishing in third place, with an overall distance of 102 metres. In outstanding form before the competition on Monday (from 1.50 p. m. at the LIVETICKER) the superior World Cup top rider Maren Sundby from Norway presented herself, who occupied first place in all three rounds. She carried her longest jump to the daily distance of 107.5 m. Sara Takanashi from Japan finished second twice.
Carina Vogt, who won gold at the Olympic premiere of women’s ski jumping in Sochi in 2014, was clearly behind the lead. The four-time world champion from Degenfeld was twice twelfth and once 14th, her longest jump was only 92 meters.”I still have a lot of work to do,”said Vogt,”I hope to use the next two days of training well”.
Juliana Seyfarth (Ruhla) and Ramona Straub (Langenordnach) finished in the top 10 at least once as ninth (99 m) and eighth (97.5 m).
