MLB: Axford signs Minor League contract with Toronto Blue Jays

Relief Pitchter John Axford and the Toronto Blue Jays have signed a Minor League contract. He also receives an invitation to the jumping training.

Axford played for Oakland A’s in 2017 and didn’t look good. He came to a 6.43 ERA over 21 innings and was finally dismissed. In 2016, however, he still had a 3.97 ERA over 65 2/3 innings.

The Canadian has been active in the MLB since 2009 and began his career with Milwaukee Brewers. Louis Cardinals, then he worked for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Indians before signing with the A’s for two years in 2016.

Throughout his entire career he has been 34-33 with a 3.71 ERA and 535 strikeouts over 470 2/3 innings at the MLB.
