Olympia 2018: Dahlmeier and Herrmann lead Sprint squad – Hönig counts on Hinz

Laura Dahlmeier, Denise Herrmann, Franziska Hildebrand and Vanessa Hinz form the German team at the start of the Olympic biathlon competitions in Pyeongchang on Saturday (12.15 at the LIVETICKER).

German national coach Gerald Hönig preferred the two-time relay world champion Hinz in the sprint to Franziska Preuß and Maren Hammerschmidt, who had to watch first.

“I’ve decided to have a good race and be in top shape. I feel good so far,”said Hinz, who expressed her respect for the track:”This one is brutally dull and extremely slow.”

For Herrmann it will be the first Olympic biathlete’s race, in 2014 she won bronze with the German cross-country skiing relay team “With me the linchpin of the shooting range is. I want to go away with the best performance of the season”, said the Oberwiesenthalerin.

Due to her successes, Dahlmeier was set, and there was hardly any question mark about the use of sprint expert Herrmann. According to Hönig, Prussia and Hammerschmidt are to be given their chance in later individual races.

There was no surprise for the men’s sprint on Sunday (12.15 in the LIVETICKER). The German team will compete with Simon Schempp, Benedikt Doll, Erik Lesser and Arnd Peiffer.
