When it came to the first training on the ice, Yannic Seidenberg had already passed the first Olympic climax. Even though the plane to South Korea was very late in taking off, the 34-year-old had particularly enjoyed the long journey:”I had myself upgraded,”he told us on Friday morning,”and sat next to Lindsey Vonn.”
Of the American ski-queen and himself, of course, the Munich resident put a photo into the social networks and wrote:”A winter sports legend and Lindsey Vonn”. Meanwhile, his team-mates had to wait in the rear seats of the plane until the Olympic mission started seven hours late.
At some point Vonn realized that there was an ice-hockey pro sitting next to her. The name Seidenberg is also known in the USA: Yannic’s brother Dennis has been playing in the NHL for more than 15 years. The many air miles during the visits to America have now paid off. There’s enough to talk about, said Seidenberg with a smile:”I didn’t immediately ask for a date with her.”
I’d love to see the Olympic champion of Vancouver again,”I’d love to go skiing,”he said,”now that I’ve met Lindsey,” and the national team has time to do so: it’s not until next Thursday that the Olympic tournament will start for the German team. And the team of national coach Marco Sturm wants to see at least one other sport together on site until then.
