NBA: Media: Joe Johnson opts for the Houston Rockets

According to media reports, Joe Johnson has chosen a future for the Houston Rockets. After his brief intermezzo in Sacramento, he will apparently join the Texans as a Free Agent. It would be the second coup for Houston after Brandan Wright’s engagement.

Before that, however, Johnson has to agree with the Kings on a buyout, which both sides are interested in. According to Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN), this agreement has already been reached. It would be the second time in the past three seasons that Johnson is bought out of his contract.

As part of the three-team trades between the Cleveland Cavaliers, Utah Jazz and the Kings, Johnson was shipped from Utah to Sacramento. However, a stay with the Kings was unlikely from the beginning.

In Utah he played 7.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in the current season. Johnson, however, only hit his threes with 27.4 percent.
