Olympia 2018: Norovirus: Only eleven new cases on Friday

The spread of the Norovirus in the Pyeongchang Olympic Winter Games environment is slowing down. After 42 new cases had been reported on Thursday, the POCOG organizing committee reported only eleven new infections on Saturday morning.

In their latest communication, the organisers continued to make recommendations for increased disinfection measures. Athletes are apparently still not infected. Of the eleven new cases, seven concern security forces.

Norovirus causes vomiting and stomach cramps, among other symptoms, and is highly contagious. The organizers in Pyeongchang are doing everything they can to prevent it from spreading to the athletes.

At the World Championships in Athletics in London last summer, athletes from several countries had been infected with the virus, and some of them were unable to compete in the end.
