Olympia 2018: Shorttracker Lim wins first gold medal for host South Korea

Shorttracker Lim Hyojun won the 23. Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang won the first gold medal for South Korea.

The 21-year-old prevailed over 1500 m ahead of the Dutch world record holder Sjinkie Knegt and Semen Jelistratow of the Olympic athletes from Russia in the presence of the president Moon Jae In. For Lim it was the first Olympic medal of his career.

German men are not competing in the short-track competitions in the Gangneung Ice Arena. For South Korea it was the 27th overall. Gold medal at winter games.
