Olympia 2018: ski jumper Althaus continues in medal form, Vogt solid

Ski jumper Katharina Althaus has also underpinned her medal ambitions in the penultimate training block for the decision of the normal hill at the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

The 21-year-old from Oberstdorf took third place on Saturday in the first two of three rounds and then abandoned her last attempt.

At 106.5 m, Althaus equalled the Japanese Sara Takanashi, who finished the day’s best distance. Two days before the competition on Monday, Takanashi won two rounds, her compatriot Yuki Ito was leading in the third round.

Norwegian top favourite Maren Lundy did not jump on Saturday. Sochi Olympic champion Carina Vogt (Degenfeld) showed herself to be solid with fourth place and sixth place twice. Ramona Straub (Langenordnach) finished seventh twice, Juliane Seyfarth (Ruhla) finished tenth in the Top 10.

On Sunday there will be three more training rounds, in which all four German jumpers will take part.
