Olympia 2018: Combination: Rydzek and Rießle strong in training

The German combiners around flag bearer Eric Frenzel have convinced in the first jump training for the Olympic competition of the normal hill.

Record world champion Johannes Rydzek won the first round in difficult wind conditions, Fabian Rießle with a daily distance of 109.0 m won the second round. Sochi winner Frenzel finished third and 16th.

“At first, conditions were a bit turbulent. Nevertheless, I am quite satisfied. I have adjusted well to the hill, so it can go on,”said Frenzel. The fight for the first medals starts on Wednesday (15.00 and 17.45 hrs OZ/7.00 and 9.45 hrs CET).

Vinzenz Geiger was ranked 16th and 10th, and was thus ahead of Björn Kircheisen on ranks 22 and 19. National coach Hermann Weinbuch is allowed to nominate four athletes for the competition, probably Church Irons will have to watch “I think the places on the small hill are already gone anyway. That’s why I take this with me as a relaxed workout,”said the veteran.
