Olympia 2018: Ski Jumping: Vogt and Althaus strong in practice

The ski jumpers Carina Vogt and Katharina Althaus aroused hopes of medals in the last training before the Olympic decision.

Sochi winner Vogt occupied places two and three in Pyeongchang and then dropped her third jump. In the last round Althaus managed the longest set, but there were not many favourites like the Norwegian Maren Lundby at the start.

“I’m really satisfied that I found the right material and was able to adjust to the jump. Now I can go into the competition with self-confidence”, said world champion Vogt (Degenfeld) before the decision on Monday (21.50 o’ clock OZ/13.50 CET).

The Norwegian Lundby remains the top favourite, however. The leader of the overall World Cup had won all three training rounds on Thursday, and on Sunday she finished third and first. Althaus (Oberstdorf), who had been on the podium in all nine World Cups of the season, had finished sixth twice before her strong final jump,”The first two were not ideal. On the third, I was able to show what I could do,”said Althaus.
