Former World Champion Arnd Peiffer won the 2006 Olympic gold medal in the 10 km sprint at the Winter Games in Pyeongchang as the second German biathlete after Sven Fischer. The 30-year-old from Clausthal-Zellerfeld remained faultless with both shooting inserts and had a 4.4-second advantage over Czech Michal Krcmar in the finish. Bronze went to the Italian Dominik Windisch.

For the German Olympic team, it was already the third gold medal in South Korea after the victories of Peiffer’s biathlon colleague Laura Dahlmeier and ski jumper Andreas Wellinger on Saturday.
