Olympia 2018: Hiddink raves about speed skater Kramer

Guus Hiddink, former South Korean national coach and coach of Bondscoach and national soccer team, has outdone himself as a fan of the Dutch speed skating superstar Sven Kramer:”I find it particularly impressive how long Sven has been at the top of the world,” said Hiddink on Dutch TV:”He always runs very controlled.

Kramer had won the 5000 m race in record time of 6:09.76 minutes at the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang on Sunday. He was the first male speed skater to win eight medals at winter games. As the first male athlete of his sport, he also achieved three Olympic victories over the same distance.

Hiddink is confident about the 10,000m Olympic race, which Kramer has never won before,”I think he will succeed with his dominance. The stress will probably not block him due to his experience,”said Hiddink.

The 71-year-old had coached South Korea at the 2002 home World Cup together with Japan and led them to fourth place. For his success, he was honorary granted South Korean citizenship.
