Olympia 2018: Second gold medal: Biathlete Dahlmeier also wins in the pursuit

Second race, second gold medal: Laura Dahlmeier has been voted double Olympic champion in Pyeongchang. Two days after her triumph in the sprint, the seven-time World Champion won the gold medal in pursuit over 10 km despite a shooting mistake in difficult wind conditions.

After Arnd Peiffer’s Olympic victory in the men’s sprint on Sunday, it was the third gold medal for German biathletes in the third race in South Korea. The Slovakian Anastasiya Kuzmina took silver and Anais Bescond from France won the bronze medal.

The Partenkirchen is the first biathlete in history to be both Olympic champion and world champion. And no athlete had ever managed to win the Olympic doubles from sprint and pursuit before. Dahlmeier is also following in the footsteps of the so far only German Olympic champions in the pursuit of Kati Wilhelm (2006) and Magdalena Neuner (2010).
